"Freelancing in Creativity"
A self taught artist who since the 1990s has concentrated almost
exclusively on detailed architectural renderings of theatre exteriors.
Joan is the former president of The National League of American Pen
Women Suffolk Branch. She was admitted into the League for Outstanding
and Unique Illustrations. She is also a member of the oldest Art Group
in Suffolk, The Wet Paints Studio Group of Sayville.
Joan keeps her pulse on new cinema releases by working with the
Sayville Theatre and the Cinema Arts of Huntington. Movies premiers
and after parties fine tune her interest in the movie industry on a
more person level. She also
contributes movie reviews and commentary for sayville.com. When Joan
wants to get away, she simply goes to her studio and will express her
emotions and feelings in a piece of art, realistically or in an
abstract form. She has successfully executed art in various mediums -
Oil, Pastel, Chinese art, Pen/Pencil and most recently, Water Color.
She has been commissioned to do renderings for Historical Societies,
Community Organizations, and private House Portraits. Her boutique
line of Note Cards can be found at Museums and up scale Gift Shops.
A first-generation Irish-American, Lengyel was born in Chelsea. She
spent much of her time growing up on East 40th Street in Manhattan
within the view of the Art Deco Chrysler Building and during the days
of the glorious Movie
Palaces.
Her interest in cinema history has lead to membership in The Theatre
Historical Society of America and The Cinema Theatre Association based
in London. Attending international film festivals in Glasgow, Berlin,
Toronto, New York, California intensifies her passion. Promotion and
marketing for actors and film makers can be extremely rewarding for
someone in the arts.
Joan shares her interest in movies with her interactive program “The
Magic of Main Street Movies” which she presents at Libraries,
Historical Societies and Senior Centers in The Tri-State area. Joan
includes her need to "act" as Part of her programs. Her latest
adventure will be to the Golden Globes.
Joan is pleased to be part of Women Sharing Art.
