On
a whim and a suggestion from a friend, I decided to try my hand at
brush painting and enrolled in a brush painting class. I loved it from
the first bamboo stroke. The beauty of brush painting is in its
immediacy. Once you have mastered the brush
strokes, what you picture in your mind and heart can be put on paper.
Sumi-e painting is very gratifying and soothing. Whenever I am
painting, whether it be a flower, bird or landscape, I seem to get in
touch with my inner self. There is a feeling of peace and harmony that
you feel while painting. Brush painting has given me many hours of
joy.
