About
the Artist
I now am at a place in my life when I am able to devote the time I want
to art and painting, the second passion in my life, the first being my
husband.
I started the creative process early in my life when I won the Poppy
Poster contest in the third grade. Who Knew! My high school year book
has many photos of me working on my sculptures. In college at F.A.U. I
fell in love with printmaking, working on zinc plates and having my
drawings etched into them with sulfuric acid. No wonder my nails never
grew! I also won several awards and had the opportunity to create the
Logo for Gallery Gemini in Palm Beach.
Then life takes hold of you and you really have to go to work, so my
artist's passion goes on hold for several long years. I now am a member
of Wet Paints Art Group and The Art League of Long Island and the EEAC.
I have shown my work in the Phoenix Art Gallery in Bellport winning
third place in their “Emerging Artists” show last year with a watercolor
of my “Hibiscus”. I won second place at the Bald Hill Art Show sponsored
by Wet Paints for my etching of elephants. Even though I did not place
in the art show at the Islip Museum Carriage House, both of my
watercolors sold! I am currently doing Pet Portraits and entering two
pastels in the Mother’s Day Peoples Choice show at the Bayard cutting
Arboretum. I also donate my time helping “Splashes of Hope” a non-profit
organization that paints murals in hospitals that puts a smile on
Patient faces, helping to make their visit not so dreary. Some of my
work can be seen at Stony Brook and Cedar Mt Sinai Hospitals. I am also
working on two children’s book illustrations with an author friend and
hope to get them both published! For the month of January my work will
be displayed at The Sachem Library and my work can be seen at Art-n-Soul
Gallery in Eastport and Phoenix Gallery in Bellport. I paint in
watercolor and pastel. I am truly blessed with some talent, a very
supportive family and time now to pursue my second passion!
